HIZ Logistiek has temporarily implemented a global embargo on household pet shipments. However, exceptions are made for certain cases, such as for military personnel or Foreign Service Officers traveling with permanent relocation orders. Please be aware that specific restrictions may apply based on the destination and regulations in place.
Verify that your pet, as a member of the military or Foreign Service, is eligible for travel (refer to the specific Requirements & Restrictions for each destination).
Ensure you have an IATA-compliant crate suitable for international pet travel (refer to Crate Requirements).
Gather all required documents, including official relocation orders, before the scheduled travel date (see Documentation below).
Contact the HIZ Logistiek Customer Service Center or our Live Animal Desk to arrange the shipment.
Drop off your pet at one of our global locations, ensuring you provide all necessary documentation.

Authority and Regulations for Animal Shipments
HIZ Logistiek reserves the right to deny animal shipments that do not meet the necessary regulations for the destination state or country. Shipments may be denied or rescheduled while further review is conducted. Non-compliance can lead to additional fees, as pets may be denied entry, returned to their origin, or placed in mandatory quarantine.
Regulations
Domestic Travel: Pet travel is limited to one connecting city. Specific locations may have more stringent pet travel requirements, such as for Hawaii, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
International Travel: When traveling internationally, customers must comply with the regulations and entry requirements of the destination state or country. Failure to comply could result in additional fees, denied entry, or quarantine.
International Shipments: For international shipments of live animals (excluding military personnel or Foreign Service Officers on active-duty permanent change of station orders), a professional pet shipper, certified by the International Pet and Animal Transportation Association (IPATA), is required.
Age Requirements: Pets must be at least 12 weeks old to travel. They must be fully weaned, self-feeding, and strong enough to travel safely. A mother and her young cannot travel together in the same kennel for safety reasons.
Sedation Policy: Sedation or tranquilization is prohibited, as it can increase the risks of air travel for pets, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Shipping Restrictions
HIZ Logistiek prohibits the following:
Interline live animal shipments (transfers to another carrier)
Transporting pets in non-compliant crates
Sedated or tranquilized animals
Animals listed as restricted breeds
Animals that are ill, injured, or showing distress
Pets requiring medication during travel
Animals showing aggression or attempting to escape their crate
Deceased animals or untreated remains
Additional Information
Temperature Limits: Pets cannot be shipped if temperature limits are exceeded.
Documentation: All required documents must be provided for the shipment of pets.
Health Requirements: Ensure your pet is fit for air travel and review their medical history with a veterinarian.
